A guest post by Chris Sanders on U2’s 2009 tour:
Rumors are spreading that U2 will kick off their 2009 tour in Dublin’s Croke ParkΒ – playing at least 3 gigs there on July 24th, 25th, and 26th. I can’t think of a better reason for a road trip to Ireland, can you?
Anyone who knows me well, knows that among my many passions, travel and U2 rank pretty high on the list. Β So, I’ve been thinking about combining these two passions and embarking on a roadtrip to Dublin to see U2 in concert…if only the band would announce their official tour schedule!!
I mention two passions, while I’m at it, I’d like to throw in a third – Ireland! I love the country and its people!!Β My first experience in Ireland was way back in 1998 when I took my younger brother (then 14 years old) on his first trip out of the country. During that trip, we stayed in Dublin for a while, then drove up to the remote county of Donnegal – exploring several castles and villages along the way.
My second experience with Ireland was in 2001 when I lived in Dublin for 6 months while working on a consulting engagement. I had a stellar apartment in the Temple Bar district and frequently hung out at a place called The Viper Room. It was during this time in Dublin that I also learned to rollerblade and salsa dance – so many memories!
Ok, so enough about my adventures in Ireland – I’ll save them for another post. For now, does anyone know anything else about U2’s 2009 tour? Does anyone else feel a road trip to Dublin coming on??
