Photo of the Week – The Metropolitain in Paris (aka: the “metro”)

Paris, metro, Pigalle, photo, night, dusk, sign, travel, Canon EOS Rebel

I enjoyed my time in Paris when I lived there for 6 months and I enjoy it every time I go back whether for a day layover or a few days.  These photos, taken during one of my brief layovers there, are of two entrances to the Paris metro at the Pigalle station.  I find them evocative.  And, of course, they make me want to return!

    Ah, le metro!
I also love the Metropolitain signs and wish I had spent more than 10 days in Paris… maybe one day!

I stayed at a hotel in Pigalle, that’s where I found the nicest and most helpful pharmacist ever when I got the flu- Loved the area, minus walking by the strip clubs at night (pig alley) and everyone trying to “get you”
The sign reminds me of the movie Metropolis.

The area is an interesting mix of things, isn’t it, Karl? I enjoyed watching tourists, of all things!

    Hi Raul,
I love Paris and this classic Parisian image brings back fond memories of the city. They make me want to return, too!

The lettering on the bottom sign is my favorite. When I see that, I immediately know it’s in Paris.

It certainly is a very unique font, Michele!

I love the old signage of The Metro.

That signage definitely fits well my notion of old Paris.
